Auction result well in line with expectations
In May this year Christies in New York held the auction A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part I, which included this untitled work by Helen Frankenthaler. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,046,500.00 (€ 1,920,874.79) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Helen Frankenthaler - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Royal Fireworks, which sold at auction in June 2020 for USD 7,895,300.00 (€ 7,029,917.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part I durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Helen Frankenthaler zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000.000,00 – 3.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.046.500,00 (€ 1.920.874,79) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Helen Frankenthaler mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Royal Fireworks beobachtet, die im Juni 2020 für USD 7.895.300,00 (€ 7.029.917,19) versteigert wurde.
