Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Castro, San Francisco by Hiroshi Sugimoto was sold in the The Collection of Douglas S. Cramer auction at Sothebys in New York in December 2021. The price achieved of USD 17,640.00 (€ 15,585.79) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hiroshi Sugimoto achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Sea, Ozuluce; Yellow Sea, Cheju; Red Sea, Safaga in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,888,000.00 (€ 1,403,404.45).
