Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2018 Christies in London held the auction Prints and Multiples, which included the work Péchés Capitaux dominés par la Mort, from: Les Sept Péchés Capitaux (The Deadly Sins dominated by Death, from: The Seven Deadly Sins) by James Ensor. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,088.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Ensor achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Squelette Arrêtant Masquessigned Ensor And Dated 91 (Lower Right); Oil On Canvas. Painted In 1891. in December 2016 with an auction result of EUR 7,357,500.00.
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Squelette Arrêtant Masquessigned Ensor And Dated 91 (Lower Right); Oil On Canvas. Painted In 1891. im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 7.357.500,00.
