Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Jean Cocteau achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March this year. In the Impressionist and Modern Art Day and Works on Paper Sale auction, the work Marrakech sold for GBP 8,820.00 (€ 10,034.45) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Cocteau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mediterranee - 1952 in December 2014 with an auction result of EUR 132,000.00.
