Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Tasse de thé II (Guillerette) by Jean Dubuffet was sold in the A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part II auction at Christies in New York in May this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 700,000.00 – 1,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 718,200.00 (€ 674,113.01) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Dubuffet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Paris Polka in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 24,805,000.00 (€ 22,562,306.71).
