This artwork by Jean-Michel Basquiat achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May this year. In the A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part II auction, the work Untitled (First Collage Experiment, Modena Italy) sold for USD 529,200.00 (€ 496,714.85) - well above the upper estimate of USD 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Michel Basquiat achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 110,487,500.00 (€ 98,333,481.67).
