Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Upturned Boat by John Wonnacott was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 48,000.00 (€ 71,229.59). Other works by John Wonnacott have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in June 2007 by the work Self-Portrait With Electric Light Bulb at GBP 54,000.00 (€ 80,133.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Upturned Boat von John Wonnacott im Juni 2007 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 48.000,00 (€ 71.229,59) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von John Wonnacott wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Juni 2007 die Arbeit Self-Portrait With Electric Light Bulb mit GBP 54.000,00 (€ 80.133,28).
