Auction result misses estimated price range

When the work Series C by Thomas Lenk was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in February 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 408.00 (€ 337.39). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Lenk achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Torskulptur in May 2011 with an auction result of EUR 17,500.00.

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Als die Arbeit Series C von Thomas Lenk im Februar 2021 bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 408,00 (€ 337,39) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Lenk erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Torskulptur im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 17.500,00.
