Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Kees van Dongen could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in May last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Modern Day Auction auction, the work Madame Georges Menier changed hands for USD 604,800.00 (€ 563,600.78) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kees van Dongen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Quiétude in October this year with an auction result of GBP 10,775,000.00 (€ 12,372,693.51).
