This artwork by Man Ray achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in April this year. In the The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples auction, the work Électricité sold for USD 56,700.00 (€ 51,358.70) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Man Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 in May last year with an auction result of USD 12,412,500.00 (€ 11,566,955.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 89 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Man Ray erzielte im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples wurde die Arbeit Électricité für USD 56.700,00 (€ 51.358,70) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Man Ray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.412.500,00 (€ 11.566.955,55).
