Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Portrait de Kiki by Man Ray was auctioned at Christies in New York in May this year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 1,500,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 1,623,000.00 (€ 1,523,371.50). Admittedly, works by Man Ray have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 in May last year with an auction result of USD 12,412,500.00 (€ 11,566,955.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Portrait de Kiki von Man Ray kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 1.500.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 1.623.000,00 (€ 1.523.371,50) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Man Ray auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.412.500,00 (€ 11.566.955,55).
