Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Peinture 130 x 89 cm, 8 mars 1956 by Pierre Soulages was auctioned at Christies in New York in May this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,196,000.00 (€ 2,999,812.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Pierre Soulages have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Peinture 195 x 130 cm, 4 août 1961 in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 20,141,700.00 (€ 17,845,042.97).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Peinture 130 x 89 cm, 8 mars 1956 von Pierre Soulages kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000.000,00 – 5.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.196.000,00 (€ 2.999.812,28) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Pierre Soulages auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Peinture 195 x 130 cm, 4 août 1961 im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 20.141.700,00 (€ 17.845.042,97).
