Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Stare Red Yellow by Sean Scully was auctioned at Christies in London in February this year. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 800,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 819,000.00 (€ 934,179.12). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sean Scully - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Song, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 2,046,500.00 (€ 1,907,091.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Stare Red Yellow von Sean Scully kam im Februar diesen Jahres bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 800.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 819.000,00 (€ 934.179,12) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Sean Scully mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Song beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 2.046.500,00 (€ 1.907.091,60) versteigert wurde.
