Auction result well in line with expectations
The work False God by Sherrie Levine was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Afternoon Session auction at Christies in New York in May 2018. The price achieved of USD 396,500.00 (€ 339,760.07) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sherrie Levine - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fountain (After Marcel Duchamp), which sold at auction in May 2012 for USD 962,500.00 (€ 778,469.75).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit False God von Sherrie Levine wurde im Mai 2018 in der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Afternoon Session bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 396.500,00 (€ 339.760,07) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Sherrie Levine mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Fountain (After Marcel Duchamp) beobachtet, die im Mai 2012 für USD 962.500,00 (€ 778.469,75) versteigert wurde.
