The work Epiglotus III by Wangechi Mutu was sold in the 20th C. & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session auction at Phillips in New York in November 2019. The »bidding war« ended at USD 26,250.00 (€ 23,822.49), 31% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wangechi Mutu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Little Thought for All Ya'll Who're Thinking of Beating Around the Bush in February 2008 with an auction result of GBP 204,500.00 (€ 267,477.97).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 31 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Epiglotus III von Wangechi Mutu wurde im November 2019 in der Auktion 20th C. & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 26.250,00 (€ 23.822,49) und damit 31% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wangechi Mutu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Little Thought for All Ya'll Who're Thinking of Beating Around the Bush im Februar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 204.500,00 (€ 267.477,97).
