This price was achieved in the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale at Christies and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 60,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Chiharu Shiota; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot State of Being sold at auction in July 2021 with the realized price of GBP 287,500.00 (€ 337,153.36).
