Auction result well in line with expectations
In March this year Phillips in London held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire in 2011 (twenty eleven) - 5 March by David Hockney. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 107,950.00 (€ 122,813.98) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hockney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nichols Canyon in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 41,067,500.00 (€ 33,579,313.16).
