Auction result misses estimated price range
In May last year a collector was able to acquire the work Nature morte à la banane by Émile Bernard for USD 47,880.00 (€ 44,618.40). This price was achieved in the auction Modern Day Auction at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Émile Bernard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bretonnerie (Bretonnes dans une prairie) in November last year with an auction result of USD 3,420,000.00 (€ 3,312,990.41).
