Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Jarama 2X by Frank Stella was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 700,000.00 – 900,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 506,500.00 (€ 399,007.41). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frank Stella achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Point Of Pines in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 28,082,500.00 (€ 25,188,357.70).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Jarama 2X von Frank Stella im November 2008 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 700.000,00 – 900.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 506.500,00 (€ 399.007,41) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frank Stella erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Point Of Pines im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 28.082.500,00 (€ 25.188.357,70).
