In October last year Phillips in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Mrs. Ella Watson with three grandchildren and her adopted daughter, July by Gordon Parks. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,820.00 (€ 8,878.60), 26% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gordon Parks - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work American Gothic, Washington D.C., which sold at auction in October last year for USD 21,420.00 (€ 21,562.31).

Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mrs. Ella Watson with three grandchildren and her adopted daughter, July von Gordon Parks zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 8.820,00 (€ 8.878,60) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Gordon Parks mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit American Gothic, Washington D.C. beobachtet, die im Oktober letzten Jahres für USD 21.420,00 (€ 21.562,31) versteigert wurde.
