It achieved a price of USD 241,300.00 (€ 228,330.81), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 61%. Admittedly, works by Hiroshi Sugimoto have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Black Sea, Ozuluce; Yellow Sea, Cheju; Red Sea, Safaga in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,888,000.00 (€ 1,403,404.45).

Die Arbeit Opticks 161 von Hiroshi Sugimoto kam im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 241.300,00 (€ 228.330,81) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 61%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hiroshi Sugimoto auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Black Sea, Ozuluce; Yellow Sea, Cheju; Red Sea, Safaga im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.888.000,00 (€ 1.403.404,45).
