In November 2019 Phillips in New York held the auction 20th C. & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session, which included the work Hologram #10 by James Turrell. The result of USD 150,000.00 (€ 136,128.51) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Turrell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Orca, Blue-Red, which sold at auction in October 2020 for GBP 302,400.00 (€ 335,789.40).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im November 2019 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th C. & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Hologram #10 von James Turrell zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 150.000,00 (€ 136.128,51) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von James Turrell mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Orca, Blue-Red beobachtet, die im Oktober 2020 für GBP 302.400,00 (€ 335.789,40) versteigert wurde.
