Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work Midnight and Noon by Josef Albers was worth USD 90,720.00 (€ 82,173.91) to a buyer in April this year. This price was achieved in the auction The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 18,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Josef Albers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Homage to the Square in May this year with an auction result of USD 2,954,000.00 (€ 2,772,667.54).
