MAN RAY (1890-1976) Le pain peint the complete artist's book comprising one multiple in blue on the front cover, ten pochoirs in colors, three reproductions in colors, and a folded poster in colors of Pêchage mounted on the back board, on wove paper, 1973, published by Galerie Alexandre Iolas, Paris as an exhibition catalogue for the exhibition Man Ray in 1973-1974, in good condition, together with the title page and original velvet boards Overall: 9 1 ⁄ 2 x 6 3 ⁄ 4 x 1 in. (241 x 172 x 25 mm.)

This artwork by Man Ray achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in April this year. In the The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples: Online auction, the work Le pain peint sold for USD 2,772.00 (€ 2,510.87) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Man Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 in May last year with an auction result of USD 12,412,500.00 (€ 11,566,955.55).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Man Ray erzielte im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples: Online wurde die Arbeit Le pain peint für USD 2.772,00 (€ 2.510,87) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Man Ray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.412.500,00 (€ 11.566.955,55).
