Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale, which included this untitled work by Mark Rothko. Here, the upper estimate of USD 5,000,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 5,723,000.00 (€ 5,133,195.80). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mark Rothko achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work No. 10 in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 81,925,000.00 (€ 74,517,918.86).
