Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2013 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Afternoon Session, which included the work Qusuquzah, Très Belle Négresse #1 by Mickalene Thomas. The price achieved of USD 100,000.00 (€ 73,496.99) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mickalene Thomas achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Racquel Reclining Wearing Purple Jumpsuit in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,830,000.00 (€ 1,500,738.07).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2013 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Afternoon Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Qusuquzah, Très Belle Négresse #1 von Mickalene Thomas zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 100.000,00 (€ 73.496,99) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mickalene Thomas erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Racquel Reclining Wearing Purple Jumpsuit im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.830.000,00 (€ 1.500.738,07).
