Auction result well in line with expectations
In July last year Christies in New York held the auction First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Whistler's Mother by Richard Aldrich. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,190.00 (€ 8,027.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Richard Aldrich have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in October 2015 with an auction result of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 61,195.32).
