The work 4 1/2% Interest, from Urban Landscapes II by Richard Estes was sold in the Prints & Multiples auction at Bonhams in Los Angeles in June last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,040.00 (€ 1,948.61), 36% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Estes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gifts of Nature in March this year with an auction result of USD 1,284,000.00 (€ 1,181,015.45).
