Brick with Cigar
Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Brick With Cigar and Brick With Nose by Robert Arneson was auctioned at Christies in New York in July 2017, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 8,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 27,500.00 (€ 23,253.85). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Arneson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Audio Visual, which sold at auction in May 2015 for USD 87,500.00 (€ 79,588.87).
