Sold at the lower estimate price
In April 2009 Christies in London held the auction Old Master, Modern & Contemporary Prints, which included the work Saint Anthony of Padua adoring the Christ Child in Glory (B. 25; Bellini 26) by Simone Cantarini. The result of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,117.41) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Simone Cantarini achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of A Seated Gentleman And A Lady Holding A Rosary in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 408,000.00 (€ 323,193.92).
