Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait study of Lavinia, Countess of Spencer (1762-1831) by George Hayter was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 300.00 (€ 360.72). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Hayter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Charlotte, Countess de la Bourdonnaye (1795-1875), Full-Length, In A Green Dress, Seated On A Day Bed On A Terrace, A Dog On Her Lap, Before A Draped Curtain, With An Extensive Landscape Beyond in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 46,800.00 (€ 69,360.56).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Charlotte, Countess de la Bourdonnaye (1795-1875), Full-Length, In A Green Dress, Seated On A Day Bed On A Terrace, A Dog On Her Lap, Before A Draped Curtain, With An Extensive Landscape Beyond im Juni 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 46.800,00 (€ 69.360,56).
