Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Incomplete Open Cube 9/5 by Sol LeWitt was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Afternoon Session auction at Christies in New York in May 2016. It changed hands for a price of USD 245,000.00 (€ 220,026.94) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 180,000.00 – 250,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sol LeWitt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Wavy Brushstrokes, which sold at auction in July 2015 for GBP 449,000.00 (€ 636,531.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Incomplete Open Cube 9/5 von Sol LeWitt wurde im Mai 2016 in der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Afternoon Session bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 245.000,00 (€ 220.026,94) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 180.000,00 – 250.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Sol LeWitt mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Wavy Brushstrokes beobachtet, die im Juli 2015 für GBP 449.000,00 (€ 636.531,19) versteigert wurde.
