In November 2006 Phillips in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Part II, which included the work Untitled 1 (Carpet) by Andreas Gursky. The »bidding war« ended at USD 104,400.00 (€ 78,727.09), 49% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andreas Gursky achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 99 Cent Ii, Diptych in February 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,700,000.00 (€ 2,520,188.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 49 % übertroffen
Im November 2006 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled 1 (Carpet) von Andreas Gursky zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 104.400,00 (€ 78.727,09) und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Andreas Gursky erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 99 Cent Ii, Diptych im Februar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.700.000,00 (€ 2.520.188,96).
