Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Andy Warhol achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in February 2015. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work Golden Shoe (Julie Andrews Shoe) sold for GBP 722,500.00 (€ 996,220.19) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).
