This artwork by Candida Höfer achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2016. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Morning Session auction, the work Bibliotheque Nationale de France XXIII sold for USD 30,000.00 (€ 26,942.07) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Candida Höfer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra IV in February 2015 with an auction result of GBP 80,500.00 (€ 110,997.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 100 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Candida Höfer erzielte im Mai 2016 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Morning Session wurde die Arbeit Bibliotheque Nationale de France XXIII für USD 30.000,00 (€ 26.942,07) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Candida Höfer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra IV im Februar 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 80.500,00 (€ 110.997,54).
