Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art, which included the work Universal Travel Adaptor, Scorpio Distributors Ltd., Unit DZ, West Sussex, Great Britain, Product number TXR770000, Power Rating: 6A Max 125/250Vac, With Built-In Surge Protector, With Safety Shutters, Surge Indicator Light 110Vac or 220Vac Light Indicato by Christopher Williams. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 18,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 18,900.00 (€ 16,094.69) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Christopher Williams have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Angola to Vietnam in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 76,375.00 (€ 81,877.14).
