This artwork by Franz Kline achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November 2005. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art (Morning Session) auction, the work Study For Cardinal sold for USD 464,000.00 (€ 393,553.86) - well above the upper estimate of USD 200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Franz Kline achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in November 2012 with an auction result of USD 40,402,500.00 (€ 31,054,957.72).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Franz Kline erzielte im November 2005 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art (Morning Session) wurde die Arbeit Study For Cardinal für USD 464.000,00 (€ 393.553,86) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 200.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Franz Kline erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 40.402.500,00 (€ 31.054.957,72).
