In March 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art, which included the work The Iris by Gary Hume. The »bidding war« ended at USD 47,880.00 (€ 40,773.23), 60% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gary Hume achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Vicious in February 2014 with an auction result of GBP 410,500.00 (€ 498,035.27).

Im März 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Iris von Gary Hume zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 47.880,00 (€ 40.773,23) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gary Hume erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Vicious im Februar 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 410.500,00 (€ 498.035,27).
