This artwork by Jenny Holzer achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May this year. In the A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part II auction, the work Selection from Survival: The Beginning of War Will Be Secret sold for USD 189,000.00 (€ 177,398.16) - well above the upper estimate of USD 70,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jenny Holzer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Arno Pair in May last year with an auction result of USD 1,560,000.00 (€ 1,453,732.18).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jenny Holzer erzielte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part II wurde die Arbeit Selection from Survival: The Beginning of War Will Be Secret für USD 189.000,00 (€ 177.398,16) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 70.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jenny Holzer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Arno Pair im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.560.000,00 (€ 1.453.732,18).
