This artwork by Maurice Brazil Prendergast achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in November 2019. In the 20th C. & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session auction, the work Figures at the Shore sold for USD 37,500.00 (€ 34,032.13) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurice Brazil Prendergast achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Stony Beach in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 3,526,000.00 (€ 4,170,313.42).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Maurice Brazil Prendergast erzielte im November 2019 bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th C. & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session wurde die Arbeit Figures at the Shore für USD 37.500,00 (€ 34.032,13) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maurice Brazil Prendergast erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Stony Beach im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.526.000,00 (€ 4.170.313,42).
