The complete suite, comprising 8 lithographs in colors on Arches paper, each signed in pencil and numbered 69/20 (there were also 50 artist's proofs), with title page, colophon also numbered '69' and table of contents, published by Raymond & Raymond, Inc. and Circle Gallery, Ltd., printed by Mourlot, Paris, with full margins, contained in original beige linen portfolio. Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Tom Sawyer Suite 8 by Norman Rockwell was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in June this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000 - 6,000, the actual price achieved of USD 4,080 (€ 3,897) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Norman Rockwell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Saying Grace in December 2013 with an auction result of USD 46,085,000 (€ 33,445,823).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Tom Sawyer Suite 8 von Norman Rockwell kam im Juni diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000 – 6.000 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 4.080 (€ 3.897) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Norman Rockwell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Saying Grace im Dezember 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 46.085.000 (€ 33.445.823).
