ROBERTO MATTA (1911-2002) Centre Noeuds: ten prints the set comprising ten etchings with aquatint in colors, on Japon nacré paper, 1974, each signed in pencil and numbered 35/125, co-published by Editions Alexander Kahan, New York and Editions Georges Visat, New York and Paris, loose (as issued), with full margins, in generally very good condition Each Image: 14 1 ⁄ 8 x 10 1 ⁄ 2 in. (360 x 268 mm.) Each Sheet: 23 3 ⁄ 4 x 17 1 ⁄ 2 in. (603 x 444 mm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Centre Noeuds: ten prints by Roberto Matta was auctioned at Christies in New York in April this year. The price achieved of USD 4,032.00 (€ 3,652.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roberto Matta achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Pendu (The Hanged Man) in December 2011 with an auction result of EUR 1,800,750.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Centre Noeuds: ten prints von Roberto Matta kam im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 4.032,00 (€ 3.652,17) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roberto Matta erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Pendu (The Hanged Man) im Dezember 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 1.800.750,00.
