Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December last year Christies in New York held the auction First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Stay Songs by Stanley Whitney. The »bidding war« ended at USD 17,640.00 (€ 16,489.06), 18% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Stanley Whitney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Radical Openness in May last year with an auction result of USD 2,228,000.00 (€ 2,076,227.75).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Stay Songs von Stanley Whitney zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 17.640,00 (€ 16.489,06) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Stanley Whitney erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Radical Openness im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.228.000,00 (€ 2.076.227,75).
