Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2021 Christies held the auction A Graphic Dialogue: Prints from the Collection of Lois B. Torf, which included the work Untitled (Family) by David Smith. The price achieved of USD 2,500.00 (€ 2,159.45) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Zig I in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 9,210,000.00 (€ 8,271,216.88).
