In January this year Bonhams held the auction Prints & Photographs | Bonhams Skinner, which included the work Nude on Sand, Oceano by Edward Weston. The »bidding war« ended at USD 151,575.00 (€ 139,597.53), 52% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Edward Weston have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Nude in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 1,609,000.00 (€ 1,033,530.32).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 52 % übertroffen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Prints & Photographs | Bonhams Skinner durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nude on Sand, Oceano von Edward Weston zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 151.575,00 (€ 139.597,53) und damit 52% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward Weston auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Nude im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.609.000,00 (€ 1.033.530,32).
