Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March last year Sothebys in London held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work Second Version of the Triptych, 1944 (Large Version) (Sabatier 24; Tacou 25) by Francis Bacon. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 50,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 50,400.00 (€ 59,754.87). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Bacon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Three Studies Of Lucian Freud in November 2013 with an auction result of USD 142,405,000.00 (€ 104,663,383.80).
