Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2018 Christies in London held the auction Post War and Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Excerpt by Glenn Ligon. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 175,000.00 (€ 197,346.01) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Glenn Ligon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (I Was Somebody) in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 3,973,000.00 (€ 3,194,243.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2018 führte Christies in London die Auktion Post War and Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Excerpt von Glenn Ligon zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 175.000,00 (€ 197.346,01) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Glenn Ligon erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (I Was Somebody) im November 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.973.000,00 (€ 3.194.243,45).
