Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Stranger Drawing #4 by Glenn Ligon was sold in the Contemporary Curated auction at Sothebys in New York in September 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 441,000.00 (€ 380,927.70) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Glenn Ligon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (I Was Somebody) in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 3,973,000.00 (€ 3,194,243.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Stranger Drawing #4 von Glenn Ligon wurde im September 2021 in der Auktion Contemporary Curated bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 441.000,00 (€ 380.927,70) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Glenn Ligon auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (I Was Somebody) im November 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.973.000,00 (€ 3.194.243,45).
