Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Glenn Ligon could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in September 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Curated auction, the work Untitled (fire next time/crowd) #2 changed hands for USD 119,700.00 (€ 103,394.66) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Glenn Ligon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (I Was Somebody) in November 2014 with an auction result of USD 3,973,000.00 (€ 3,194,243.45).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Glenn Ligon konnte im September 2021 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Contemporary Curated wechselte die Arbeit Untitled (fire next time/crowd) #2 für USD 119.700,00 (€ 103.394,66) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Glenn Ligon erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (I Was Somebody) im November 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.973.000,00 (€ 3.194.243,45).
