Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Prints and Multiples, which included the work Venice, Evening, from Venetian Views by Howard Hodgkin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 6,976.05) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Howard Hodgkin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Goodbye to the Bay of Naples in October 2017 with an auction result of GBP 1,688,750.00 (€ 1,925,505.56).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Prints and Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit Venice, Evening, from Venetian Views von Howard Hodgkin zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 6.976,05) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Howard Hodgkin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Goodbye to the Bay of Naples im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.688.750,00 (€ 1.925.505,56).
